Betty Joan Mcconnell

JoAnn McConnell, 72, Waverly, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. She was born Feb. 26, 1935, at Kansas City, Mo., to Cecil and Edna (Briggs) Leonard. JoAnn has lived in Waverly, Kansas for the last two years moving there from Richmond, Kansas where she had lived 10 years. She had previously lived at Garnett, Kansas during the 1970`s and 1980`s. JoAnn was a lifelong homemaker. While living in Garnett she was a volunteer for ECKAN and received the volunteer of the year award. JoAnn was united in marriage with Jim Calcott. He preceded her in death in 1987. Survivors include sons, Thomas Calcott, Richmond, Bob Calcott, Echo, Ore., Mike Penland, Quenemo, Jimmy McConnell Jr., Paola, and Gary McConnell, Williamsburg; daughters, Sandy Nedwed and Vikki Bellinger, both of Waverly; sisters, Barbara White, Waverly, Patricia Carr, Techapi, Calif., and Rita May Downs, Oric, Mo.; brothers, Richard Hodge, Kansas City, Mo., Dale Leonard, Lone Jack, Mo., Cecil Leonard, Texas, Robert Leonard, Utah, and James Leonard, California; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by sister, Peggy Leonard; and brothers, Russell Leonard and Billy Leonard. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2007. CEMETERY: Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Kansas.
