Betty J. Reynolds, 91, of Ottawa, formerly of Winchester, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Ottawa Retirement Village. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 308 Delaware Street, Winchester, Kansas. Family will meet with friends immediately following the graveside service at the Winchester Community Center, 411 Spruce Street, Winchester. Betty was born February 21, 1926, in rural Nortonville, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Musie (Jones) Ragland. She was a longtime Winchester resident, moving in 2014 to Ottawa. She graduated from Winchester High School with the class of 1944. Betty was united in marriage to W. Alvin Reynolds September 28, 1944, in Leavenworth, Kansas. He preceded her in death May 11, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Musie Ragland; brother, Loren Ragland; and sister, Ellen Perine. Survivors include her three children, Bill Reynolds and wife Paula of Cameron, Missouri, Bob Reynolds and wife Katherine of Ottawa, and Beth Weishaar of Olathe; sister, Glenda Thompson of Weston, Missouri; brother, Larry Ragland and wife Peggy of Leavenworth; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, James Reynolds, Harvey Reynolds and wife Imogene, and Don Reynolds and wife Carol, all of Winchester; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was a devoted homemaker. She worked as a nurse’s aide 20 plus years at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital and was a librarian 14 years at the Winchester Library. She was a member of the Winchester Christian Church and 60-year member of the Jefferson County Education Extension Unit where she organized and worked Red Cross blood drives.
