Betty J. Likes-Teter, 88, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 8, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Betty will lie in state after 4:00 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the mortuary where the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Betty was born Wednesday, April 18, 1928, in Centropolis, Kansas, the daughter of Charles “Jack” and Ellen (Oyler) Likes. She was a lifelong Ottawa area resident. She attended Greendale Grade School in Franklin County and Ottawa High School. Betty was first married to Dale Glenn in 1952; they later divorced. She married Carl Pendleton; they later divorced. Betty married Richard Teter, they later divorced. Survivors include her two children, Sandra Glenn of Ottawa, and Randy Pendleton also of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Max and Lee Likes. She worked at Lake City Arsenal in Independence, Missouri from 1949 to 1958, Mode O’Day as a seamstress in Ottawa for eight years, and managed a COF group home with her mother in Ottawa, retiring in 1987. She was a life member of the Aerie Lodge 2700 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and for several years was involved with the Mother/Daughter Club in Centropolis. Betty loved her family and enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, going to the casino, and traveling.
