Betty C. Kaub

Betty C. Kaub was born on Monday, March 17, 1930, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Henry and Naomi (King) Carlson. A lifelong resident, Betty made her home in Ottawa until her death on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the age of seventy-eight years. Betty graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1949. Following high school, she entered nurse's training at General Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 1953. She was a registered nurse for 41 years, working at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City in the late 1960's and early 1970's, Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa from 1973 to 1984, and Menorah Hospital in Kansas City from 1984 to retirement in 1994. She was a devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa and former member of North Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. Betty was such a caring person and very proud of her family. Her greatest enjoyment came from their family gatherings and watching the children play sports. She also enjoyed gardening and visiting with her many friends. On July 3, 1955, Betty was united in marriage with Floyd I. Kaub in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1975. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Frances R. Kaub; and brother, Edward Brandt. Mrs. Kaub is survived by her daughter, Becky Bright and her husband, Mike, of Chanute, Kansas; son, Floyd E. Kaub of Coffeyville, Kansas; two step grandchildren, Jeff Bright of Port Heneme, California, Nick Bright of Independence, Kansas; and two adopted grandchildren, Cassandra Damron of Garnett, Kansas, Dezeray Calderwood of Gardner, Kansas. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Kaub at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
