Beth A. Sobba

Beth Anne Sobba, 76, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 24, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Scipio. Family will meet with friends prior to services from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Monday at the church. Inurnment St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio. Beth was born Friday, April 11, 1941, at Garnett, the daughter of Edward Ray and Mary Maxine (Reiling) Vaughan. She was a lifelong Anderson County resident. She graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1959. Beth continued her education at Ottawa University graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in education. She attended the University of Kansas taking courses in journalism. Graduated in the mid-1970s from Kansas City Kansas Community College with an Associate of Arts in mortuary science. Beth was united in marriage to Marvin Sobba, November 14, 1959, at Garnett, Kansas. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her three children, Dianne Wilper and husband Bill of Garnett, John Sobba of Tucson, Arizona, and Frank Sobba of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Monica Sobba of Richmond; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ronald Vaughan. She was employed as an English and journalism teacher at Garnett High School USD 365 from 1969 to 1975; funeral director and embalmer with D. W. Newcomer & Sons Funeral Home, Overland Park in the mid-1970s to the early 1980s; helped operate the family business, Sobba Foods in Garnett, from 1975 to 1979; and taught at COF Training Services from the mid-1990s to her retirement in 2003. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Beth loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and family, enjoyed watching wildlife and crocheting blankets.
