Bernice Elizabeth Bulmer

Bernice Elizabeth Tucker Bulmer was born on Tuesday, February 9, 1926, in Michigan Valley, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Opal Maxine (Walker) Tucker. Bernice grew up in Michigan Valley. Following her marriage, she and Drexel lived in Michigan Valley and Ottawa, Kansas, moving to the Lawrence, Kansas area in 1986, where she made her home until her death on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the age of eighty-one years. Bernice graduated from Michigan Valley High School. She worked as a cosmetologist and homemaker. She was a devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. She volunteered for many church activities and helped in many citizen organizations. Bernice was an avid gardener and enjoyed her garden of flowers and her many friends and neighbors. She was a lovely lady who was very caring and concerned about others. On December 17, 1976, Bernice was united in marriage with Drexel Hawley Bulmer in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1994. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marlin Tucker. Bernice is survived by two brothers, Charles Lewis Tucker and his wife, Esther, of Lawrence, Kansas, Ronald Bruce Tucker and his wife, Caroll, of Lawrence, Kansas; three stepsons, Lee M. Bulmer and his wife, Peggy, of Vassar, Kansas, Larry D. Bulmer and his wife, Lois, of Ottawa, Kansas, D. Russell Bulmer and his wife, Carol, of Ottawa, Kansas; four stepdaughters, Deanna Faust and her husband, Don, of Overbrook, Kansas, Barbara A. Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, Sharon Middlebusher and her husband, Loren, of Ottawa, Kansas, Karen Witham and her husband, Howard, of Ottawa, Kansas; and many stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, stepgreat-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Bulmer at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
