Bernard H. Spielbusch, age 95, of Spring Hill, KS passed away on August 22, 2017 at Blackhawk Assisted Care. The visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Wea, 22779 Metcalf Bucyrus, KS with the funeral mass following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Queen of the Holy Rosary Cemetery. He was born March 3, 1922 at Wea, KS to Henry and Johanna (Schecher) Spielbusch. He graduated from Louisburg High School where he met and married Fern Kern on April 30, 1941. He and Fern had six children. They lived on a small farm in Spring Hill, KS for over 40 years. Fern passed away in 1997. Bernard was remarried to Isabel May. They lived in Drexel, MO for 15 years before moving to Blackhawk Assisted Care in Spring Hill. Isabel passed away in 2013. Bernard decided to stay due to failing health. Bernard worked at Sears when he and Fern were first married. When the war started he worked for Hercules Sunflower Ordnance Plant near DeSoto, KS. In September of 1944 he received notice to report to serve in the United States Army. He served his country until March 9, 1946 when WWII was over. Bernard retired from Kansas City Power and Light Company after 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives; four children, Keith, Jerry and two infants Rebecca and Randy; two sisters, one brother and one great granddaughter. Surviving are two children, Bernardean (Corky) Souders and Michael (Karen) Spielbusch; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. The family suggests contributions to Holy Rosary Wea Catholic School, Holy Rosary Cemetery or Nativity House.
