Bernadine G. "Bernie" Evans

Bernadine G. Bernie Evans, age 74 of Homewood, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013. She was born on Thursday, May 19, 1938 in Groom, Texas, the daughter of Bernard Joseph and Beatrice Marie (Bohr) Hermesmeyer. Bernie grew up in Rantoul, Kansas moving, to Ottawa in 2006, and recently to Homewood, Kansas. Bernie graduated from Rantoul High School. She worked as an inspector for King Radio and Estes, retiring in 2000. On Friday, May 16, 1958, Bernadine was united in marriage with Richard Lee Evans at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2009. She is survived by her: Son - Dale E. Evans and his wife, Julie of Belton, Missouri Daughter - Shirley L. Pennington and her husband, Mike of Gardner, Kansas Daughter - Joanna M. Flora and her husband, David of Ottawa, Kansas Brother – F.C. “Bud” Hermesmeyer of Osawatomie, Kansas Sister – Bernadette Allen of Sulphur, Louisiana Grandchildren – Eight Great Grandchildren – Five She is preceded in death by her: Parents – Bernard and Beatrice Hermesmeyer Husband – Richard L. “Dickie” Evans Son – Joseph E. Evans Brother - Bernard Paul Hermesmeyer Sister – Nell Scheckel Sister – Elizabeth Baldwin SERVICE: Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas. IN STATE: Mrs. Evans will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Friday where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. CEMETERY: Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas.
