On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, Bennie W. Campbell, loving husband, father of six children, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at the age of 78. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Bennie was born May 11, 1942 in Seattle, WA to William and Sara Jane Campbell. For many years Bennie lived in Sioux City, IA, moving to Gardner, KS. In 1975, he moved to Ottawa, KS. From his first marriage he had four children, two sons Robert and William and two daughters, Edith and Janie. On October 21, 1972, he married Lynda Paige McCall, who he had a daughter, Michelle and a son, Scott. Bennie spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver working for United Van Lines and traveling all over the United States. When he could he loved to take his wife and children with him. Later, he transitioned into medical equipment repair and service industry. He started his own business, Campbell’s X-ray Processer Service, working with many doctors, who enjoyed working with him in the greater Kansas City area. As a hobby, he sold motorcycle parts, novelty pins and other items at various swap meets, car shows, and motorcycle shows, which he loved to do with his wife Lynda. Bennie had a passion for motorcycles and is well known in the Kansas City motorcycle community. He loved working on and repairing motorcycles, ATVs, go-karts, and small engines. For many years he did professional Go-Kart racing, which he loved doing with his son, Scott and later his grandson, Preston. Ben was always providing a helping hand to family and friends when they asked. If he knew you needed something, he would do his best to get it for you. Later in life he and his wife, Lynda, began raising their great granddaughter Pairris, whom he loved very much. Bennie was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother Sara Jane, his older brother James, and two of his sons Robert and William. He is survived by his wife Lynda of the home, four of his children Edith (Wallace) Ruckman of Council Bluffs, IA, Janie, Michelle Campbell of Ottawa, and Scott (Raha) Campbell of Olathe, and three grandchildren, Preston Bunyard of Ottawa, Alex Pederson of Council Bluffs, IA and Allycia Campbell also of Council Bluffs and five great grandchildren.
