Benjamin Eugene Linn, Sr., age 90 of Overbrook, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at Brookside Manor in Overbrook, Kansas. He was born on Wednesday, November 16, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Benjamin and Mildred (Hull) Linn. Ben grew up in the Parsons, Kansas area, moving to Wichita in 1954; transferred to Washington in 1968 and to Ottawa in 1992 to be closer to his girls. He graduated from Mound Valley High School with the class of 1939. Ben was a tool and die maker, working ten years for Katy Railroad and twenty years for Boeing, retiring in 1977. Ben served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, attaining the rank of Seaman, First Class. He received the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, and the American Theatre Ribbon. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa. On October 31, 1942 Ben was united in marriage with Edythe Olene Duvall at Coffeyville, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 12, 1994. He is survived by his Son - Benjamin Linn, Jr. and his wife, Becky of Wichita, Kansas; Son - Ron Linn and Robin Amestoy of Squim, Washington; Son - Les Linn of Wichita, Kansas; Son - Barry Linn of Las Vegas, Nevada; Daughter - Peggy Klink and her husband, Larry of Ottawa, Kansas and Daughter - Debbie Michael-Ketterman and her husband, Mike of Overbrook, Kansas. Granddaughter – Tonya Barnett and her husband, Brent of Quartz Hill, California; Granddaughter – Johanna Pearce and her husband, Jared of Ventura, California; Grandson – Eddie Carter and his wife, Diana of Ft. Mojave, Arizona; Grandson – Evan Michael and his wife, Cari of Ottawa, Kansas; Grandson – Eric Michael and his wife, Aubree of New Mexico; Granddaughter – Lacy Michael of Ottawa, Kansas; Granddaughter – Stacy Linn of Marysville, Washington; Grandson – Buddy Linn of Marysville, Washington; Grandson – Zach Linn of Wichita, Kansas; Grandson - Jared Linn of Wichita, Kansas; Grandson – Bill Klink and his wife, Yvette of Silver Lake, Kansas; Thirteen-Great Grandchildren and Three Great-Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife - Edythe Linn; Parents – Benjamin and Mildred Linn and a Daughter-in-law – Billie Linn. Services: Funeral services will be held from Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 13, 2012. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas with Military Honors by the Kansas National Guard Honors Detail. In State: Friends can pay their respects to Mr. Linn after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.
