Beatrice A. “Betty” Maloney-Ewbank, age 88, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011. She was born on Wednesday, August 23, 1922, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Lloyd Ashley and Jennie B. (Rarden) Connaway. Betty moved from Kansas City, Missouri to Ottawa in 1951. She was a 1939 high school graduate and attended business school, both in Kansas City, Missouri. Betty worked fifty years for Todd Insurance and Todd Mobile Homes in Ottawa as a bookkeeper and stenographer, retiring in 2004. She was also bookkeeper for Smith Insurance of Ottawa for many years. Betty was a member of Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri and attended First Christian Church in Ottawa. She was a member of Golden Gate Chapter #58 Eastern Star, Kansas City, Missouri; life member and Past President of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary; Past President of Aerie Lodge #2700 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary; served as secretary for the Senior Center in Ottawa, and volunteered many years at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas On June 29, 1946, Betty was united in marriage with Hurley W. Pat Maloney in Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1981. On December 31, 1989, Betty was united marriage with Donald T. Ewbank in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on February 29, 1992. Son-Larry Maloney and his wife, Cathleen, of Albany, Oregon; Son-Joe Maloney and his wife, Judy, of Princeton, Kansas; Stepson-Bruce Ewbank and his wife, Carmen, of Ottawa, Kansas; Stepson-Mark Ewbank; Sister-Thelma Honeycutt and her husband, Robert J., of Ottawa, Kansas; Grandchild-Terry Maloney; Grandchild-Patrick Maloney; Grandchild-Jim Maloney; Grandchild-Ginger Maloney-Barbo; Many Gt. Grandchildren; Many Gt. Gt. Grandchildren and Many Nieces & Nephews. She is preceded in death by her: Husband-Hurley W. “Pat” Maloney; Husband-Donald T. Ewbank; Parents-Lloyd Ashley and Jennie B. Connaway; Brother-Joe A. Connaway; Brother-Robert S. Connaway; Sister-Alice Pratt and Sister-Nancy Hull. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011. IN STATE: Mrs. Ewbank will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 10:00 a.m. Friday to the service hour. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
