Barry Dean Swearingen, 58, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018. A public graveside inurnment to celebrate the life of Donna Swearingen and son, Barry Swearingen will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 19, 2019 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Barry was born October 20, 1960, in Ottawa, the son of Dean and Donna (Behrens) Swearingen. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1978 and attended Kansas University. Survivors include his three siblings, Bob Swearingen and wife Cheryl, Barb Gibson and husband Will, and Laura Miller and husband Walter all of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Donna Swearingen. Barry was a tax analyst with H&R Block for 30 years. He enjoyed watching sports and his favorite teams were KU, Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Barry always looked forward to family gatherings and was a huge history buff. The family suggests memorial contributions to Franklin County Cancer Foundation or Crossroads Hospice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
