Barbara L. Winegar

Barbara L. Winegar, 92, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at North Point Skilled Nursing Home in Paola. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 14, 2021, at Parker Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Barbara was born Thursday, October 4, 1928, in Parker, KS, the daughter of Phillip August and Lora (McConnell) Bohnert. Barbara was united in marriage to Glen L. Winegar on May 1, 1948 in Garnett, Kansas. They made their home for a short time in Garnett. They became the parents of one son. They moved to Osawatomie in 1951. Glen preceded her in death in 1972. She worked at Osawatomie State Hospital as a telephone operator for 16 years. Barbara loved the challenge of word search puzzles. She also enjoyed writing letters to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen, her brother Phillip "Mac" Bohnert; her sister Phyllis Burress, and grandson-in-law Michael Anderson. Survivors include their son Steve Winegar of Osawatomie; two granddaughters Lisa (Mark) Farmer and Jamie (Mark) Glenn all of Paola; 5 great grandchildren Keaton and Jacob Farmer, Layne and Luke Anderson, and Leah Glenn; an honorary daughter Barbara (Kyle) Shafer of Osawatomie; many other relatives and friends. Memorials are to the Marilyn Winegar Scholarship Fund at Osawatomie High School and can be sent in care of the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to post their memories and condolences on Barbara's tribute wall.
