Barbara Ann Dyer, 64, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at her home. A private family graveside will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona. Due to the current restrictions associated with COVID-19 a celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date. Barbara was born January 15, 1956 in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of James and Mary (Nicholson) Mowat. She was raised in Garnett moving to Pomona in the late 1970’s. She graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1974 and continued her education at Allen County Community College receiving her associate degree. On May 26, 1979 Barbara was united in marriage to Michael Dyer in Garnett. They were happily married for nearly 41 years and had two sons, Joseph and Justin. Barbara was employed at King Radio in Ottawa, from the 1970’s to 1980’s, as an assembler; Pomona USD 287, from the late 1980’s to 1990’s, as a teachers aid; and for the last 12 years she was on the support staff for COF. Barbara was dedicated to her family and enjoyed their time together. She loved to read and was a kind and caring woman who always enjoyed helping people. She was preceded in death by her father, James Mowat and son, Joseph Neal Dyer. Survivors include her husband Michael of the home; son, Justin Dyer of Pomona; mother, Mary Bowman of Emporia; sister, Connie Alcorn and husband Michael of Enid, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
