Asher James Leonard went to heaven surrounded by his family who loved him deeply on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Celebration of Life Service will be held at Ottawa University Fredrikson Chapel, 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary, from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, July 8, 2013. Cremation is planned with private Inurnment at a later date. He was born on Monday, November 17, 2008. During the wonderful time he spent with us, he touched our lives and souls. His presence in our lives is a gift we will always treasure. Asher lived a life full of joy. We will always remember his infectious smile and his loving and caring personality. His ability to make people laugh was one of his greatest gifts. Asher loved and lived as only he could, with compassion, joy, excitement, sass and determination. He loved Star Wars, Legos, coloring, painting, Nerf guns and The Black Keys. He attended Faith Lutheran Preschool in Ottawa. He will be forever cherished in the hearts of those who survive him including his parents, Jacob Jake and Shannon Leonard and two brothers, Caleb & Xavier of the home; paternal grandmother, Mary Timko of Cleveland, Ohio; paternal grandfather, Thomas Leonard and Linda Reash Leonard of Columbus, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Brian and Marla Biggs of Paola, Kansas; paternal great grandfather, V. Paul Timko of Naples, Florida; and maternal great grandmother, Esther Biggs of Wichita, Kansas; many special aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Asher was preceded in death by his great grandparents, James “Jim” and Betty Schulte; great grandfather, Marvin Biggs; great grandmother, Rita Timko; great grandparents, Ted and Antoinette “Toni” Leonard; great uncle, Robert “Bob” Leonard; and cousin, Stella Valentine. The family suggests memorial contributions to Make-A-Wish Missouri or CERN Foundation (Collaborative Ependymoma Research Network) c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
