Artis Ray Eversole, a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, in Pomona, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 25, 1936, in Oark, Arkansas, the son of Elige and Bleutha (Anglin) Eversole, Artis dedicated his life to his work as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2015 after many years in the field.
For the last six months, Artis called Pomona, Kansas home after moving from Huntington, Arkansas, where he had resided for thirty-five years. His roots in Arkansas ran deep, providing him experiences that shaped his life’s journey.
Artis was not only known for his unwavering commitment to his profession but also for his vibrant personality. He will be remembered fondly for his love of fishing, singing, and karaoke, elements that brought joy and laughter to his family gatherings. Artis cherished his time spent with family, and his legacy continues through his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and joy for him.
He is survived by his son Steve Eversole (Cathy) of Pocahontas, Arkansas; daughter Vanessa Strickland (Weldon) of Pocahontas, Arkansas; grandchildren Jonathan Strickland, and Amy Vesser; great grandchildren Jadelynn Strickland, Natalie Strickland, and Khloe Strickland; daughter Tina Massiongale of Pocahontas, Arkansas; grandson Justin Masiongale (Jennifer); son Bruce E. Eversole of Pocahontas, Arkansas; son Neil Sunderman (Ina) of Clarksville, Arkansas; grandchildren Steven Sunderman (Sarah), Stephanie Gray (Ethan); great grandchildren Josephine Sunderman, Rex Gray and Archer Gray; daughter Becky Eversole-White (Danny White) of Russellville, Arkansas; grandchildren Clayton Baxter, Nathan Baxter (Chelle) and Braedon White; great grandchildren Makela Kuakahela and Briar’ John Baxter; great grandchild Amara Kuakahela; son Bruce Patrick Eversole (Savannah) of Pomona, Kansas; grandchildren Mia Tomason, Kylee Eversole, Elijah Eversole, Lorelei Eversole, Abbigail Eversole and Dalton Eversole; son Mikey Eversole (Kacy King) of Pomona, Kansas, grandchildren Angel Larimore, Zoey Worley (Dom), Tristan Eversole, Caden Eversole, and Evelyn Eversole; great grandson Theodore Worley; son Brandon Eversole of Huntington, Arkansas; grandchildren Joline Horn, Bryson Horn, Warren Frye and, Rylan Frye, ex-wife Patsy Roberts (Danny); grandsons Matthew Eversole and Kasper Eversole; niece Donna Houde; grandchildren Joseph Houde, Angela Houde, Sarah Houde, Buddy Houde; son Clinton Graham (Ruby); grandchildren Levi Graham and Nora Graham.
Artis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anita Gunter-Eversole, and wife Edith Crooks, as well as his brothers Wayne Eversole (Shirley), Kellon Eversole (Carol), and Bert Eversole (Juanita), and his sister Ailene. Each of these individuals held a special place in his heart, and their memories will continue to resonate with those who loved him.
Artis Ray Eversole’s legacy is one of hard work, family devotion, and a zest for life that touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
