Arthur C. Casaert

Arthur C. Casaert at age 100, of Stilwell, KS, died on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Wellsville Manor, Wellsville, KS. Arthur was born in Lenexa, KS on September 28, 1917 the third of six children born to Victor and Alida (DeLaere) Casaert. He married Margaret Ceule on September 16, 1944 in Kansas City, MO. Arthur worked at the Bunting Family Farm as a handyman. He then went on to work for Shawnee Mission School District as a maintenance worker until 1982 when he retired. He enjoyed watching birds, especially Finch’s and Purple Martins, being in the garden, rabbit hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret; his parents; one grandson, Donald Lichtenauer; a grand daughter-in-law, April A. Casaert; two brothers, Philemon and Harry; and two sisters, Hilda Ceule and Magdalina Casaert. Arthur leaves behind, two daughters, Betty (John) Knapp, Overland Park, KS and Shirley J. (Joseph) Lichtenauer, Melvern, KS; one son, Lonny J. (Roxanne) Casaert, Edgerton, KS; nine grandchildren, Julie, Steve, Mark, Dan, Kim, Dave, Eric, Andrea and Michelle.; eight great grandchildren, Kyle, Mathew, Caleb, Dylan, Damion, Brionna, Aiden and Caitlynn; four step grandchildren, Carter, Jimmy, Meghan and Annabel; one great granddaughter, Ember; one sister, Josephine Casaert, Overland Park, KS many caring and loving nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Bucyrus, KS with the Funeral Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be given to the Catholic Community Hospice or Wellsville Retirement Community.
