Arline Hrenchir

NeEva "Arline" Nutt Hrenchir, 91, of Garnett, Kansas passed away February 16, 2010 at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. She was born on October 11, 1918 in Wellsville, Kansas to Roy H. and Dorothy M. Sherar Nutt. Arline attended schools in Miami County and graduated from Paola High School in 1937. On July 30, 1939 she married Thomas Garland Sprague in Kansas City, Kansas and later they became the parents of two children. In 1941 they moved to Kansas City, Kansas where Arline worked for Emery, Bird, and Thayer; then went to work in the office of Manor Bakery before going to work at Westport Bank. Garland and Arline moved to Paola in 1957, purchasing the Fred Bartley Blacksmith Shop, which Mr. Sprague ran until his death on February 13, 1977. Arline went to work for Dr. Robert Banks in Paola in 1970, and later also worked part-time for Dr. Kenneth Head before retiring in 1981. On February 2, 1979 she married Otto P. Hrenchir of Wellsville, Kansas; they made their home in Paola until his passing on July 19, 2003. She is survived by her son, Thomas Sprague of Garnett; a daughter, Rhonda Sprague Whinery of The Woodlands, Texas; a sister, Lauribel Harrison of Wenatchee, Washington; a brother, Don Nutt of Baldwin, Kansas; three granddaughters; three step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one sister; Nadine Wren; and an aunt, Wanita Sherar McLean.
