Arlene Ewing was born October 12, 1953, in Garnett, Kansas. She was the daughter of Alvin and Dora (Beah) Beechy. A lifelong resident, Arlene made her home in Garnett, Kansas, until her death Saturday, October 12, 2002, at the age of forty-nine years. She was employed as a Certified Medical Assistant at several Garnett nursing homes. She was a member of The Jehovah`s Witnesses Church of Garnett. Mrs. Ewing was a dedicated member and faithful witness for her Church. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. Arlene also enjoyed playing Bingo, painting ceramics, and crocheting. She created many lovely items for her family and friends to enjoy. On July 29, 1993, Arlene was united in marriage with Dennis Ewing at Garnett. She was so proud of her husband and their happy marriage. Dennis survives of their home. She is also survived by her mother, Dora Beechy of Garnett, Kansas; four sisters, Le Ann Deboe of Iola, Kansas, Charlotte Miller of South Carolina, Viola of North Carolina, Martha Beechy of Topeka, Kansas; two brothers, Elmer Beechy of Garnett, Kansas, Ralph Beechy of Garnett, Kansas; and, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvin Beechy. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2002. Commital Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Steve Van Ostran IN STATE: Arlene will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9 a.m. Monday to the service hour where the family will meet with friends 7-8 Monday evening.
