Arlen D Hall

September 28, 1936 — March 8, 2025

Ottawa

Arlen D. Hall, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at Rock Creek Assisted Living. He was born on September 28, 1936, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and was a gentle and kind man and a cherished member of his community throughout his life.

Arlen's dedication to service is evident in his extensive career, which began after he completed high school at Rich Hill High School in Rich Hill, Missouri. He joined the United States Air Force in 1957, undertaking tours in Korea, St. Albans, Vermont, Topsham Air Station in Maine, and Sioux City, Iowa, where he served as a radar technician. Following his military service, Arlen worked as an electrician for Gary Colbern at Colbern Electric, worked at the Richmond Coop for eighteen years, and also spent time with the Federal Aviation Agency in Olathe, Kansas. His professional journey culminated in an eight-year tenure at Colgate Palmolive, where he made enduring contributions.

In 1958, he united in marriage with Mary Linda Laughlin, creating a partnership that would last for decades. Together, they raised three daughters—Carla Springer (Russel) of Kirbyville, Missouri, Sheila Kratzberg (Rick) of Greeley, Kansas, and Martha Hall of Gardner, Kansas. Arlen took immense pride in his family, and his legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Jana Dawson, Megan Springer, Garrett Kratzberg, and Marissa Roberts, as well as his great-grandchildren: Elijah Kratzberg, Arlaina Roberts, Lindley Roberts, Aysen Dawson, Lakyn Dawson, and Treyton Dawson.

A man of faith, Arlen was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the Richmond, Kansas Lions Club. His interests outside of work were equally fulfilling; he loved spending time by ponds, fishing, gardening, and working in his workshop. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life and was known for his warm spirit and generosity.

Arlen is predeceased by his father, Homer Hall; mother, Rita Lorene (Ferrell) Hall; sisters, Joan Davis and Bernice Golladay; and brother, Elvin Hall. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Linda, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister, Caroline Bowlin (Leon).

As we remember Arlen D. Hall, we celebrate his contributions to his family, community, and country. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
