Annetta Elizabeth Wolken Butel died August 30, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center. Annetta was born on May 10, 1928 in Scipio, Kansas to Christian Jacob Wolken and Clara Roeckers Wolken. She attended East Scipio Elementary School and graduated from Garnett High School in 1946. She worked for Dr. Ralph White as an Administrative Assistant and also worked for Sears in Kansas City, Missouri. On October 8, 1949, she was united in marriage to Anthony Joseph Butel at St. Boniface Church, Scipio. To this union thirteen children were born. As her children were growing, she served as a project leader and club leader for Progressive 4-H Club. After raising her children, she also worked 15 years in the Foods Department for USD 368. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church Women"s Group. Annetta was preceded in death by her parents Chris and Clara Wolken; brothers Robert (Betty) and Arthur Wolken; sisters Mildred Seck (Albert), Sister Christina Wolken OSU, Sister Mary Margaret Wolken OSU and Margaret Joan Wolken. She is survived by her husband Anthony of the home, two sons, Anthony Butel (Catherine) of Scranton, PA, and David Butel (Terri) of Kansas City, MO; eleven daughters, Mary Butel (Bob Gress) of Wichita, KS, Theresa Pritchard (Jim), Rita Wobker (Lyle), and Angela Scherman all of Paola, KS, Margie Gress (Stan) of Derby, KS, Marcella Seiler (Bob) of Valley Center, KS, Diane Hund (Duane) of Paxico, KS, Phyllis Peterson (Bob) of Overland Park, KS, Dolores Hollar (Gary) of Scranton, KS, Roberta Burghart (Steve) of McPherson, KS, and Karen Weigel (Derrick) of Berryton, KS; thirty-one grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Wolken (Anthonette) of Garnett, KS; two sisters, Lillian Mayes of Garnett, KS, Jean Wolken of Paola, KS; and sister-in-law, Louise Wolken of Garnett, KS. Annetta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards with her siblings through the years and always enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they visited the farm. Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Church Endowment or the Ursuline Sisters.
