Anita Jo Nichols, 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 9th, 2019 after a long battle with COPD. Anita was born on August 11th, 1954 in Lawrence, KS to Jack Shaffer and Thelma (Duvall) Griffin. Anita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible. She also enjoyed growing flowers, watching the hummingbirds and researching the genealogy of her family heritage. Anita lived in Franklin County her entire life and worked many jobs including King Radio, Wal-Mart Automotive and American Eagle. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Anita was united in marriage to Dale Eugene Nichols, he survives of the home. Dale and Anita shared 47 years of marriage and had four children. Shannon Nichols (Christine) of Ottawa, KS, Rodney Nichols (Lainie) of Scranton, KS, Adam Nichols (Melissa) of Baldwin City, KS and Jenna Nichols of Pomona KS. She is also survived by her sisters Janet Nichols and Judy Beavan, and brother Rick Shaffer. She has 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Roger Shaffer and grandson Dalton Nichols. Anita will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Saturday August 17th, 2019 at Central Cemetery in Pomona, KS at 10:00. Family will meet with friends at the Cherry Street Wesleyan Church after the service. “We love and miss you Mama, and don’t worry, Adam got the sewing machine.” ~Jenna
