Alvin Logan, age 73, of Quenemo, Kansas, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas. He was born on Friday, June 26, 1936, in Dayton, Tennessee. He was the son of Eural and Vesta (Horwell) Logan. He was a resident of Quenemo since 1991, moving from Miami, Florida. From 1981 to 1991, Alvin and his wife owned and operated L & M Backhoe Company, where they did electrical contracting with Florida Power & Light. In 1995, he and his wife opened Over-the-Hill Collectibles located on Main Street in Ottawa. He served in the United States Marine Corp from January of 1954 to January of 1957. He was a lifelong National Rifle Association member, an avid hunter and fisherman, and member of Operating Engineers Local 487. On December 3, 1957, Alvin was united in marriage with Janet Bevilhymer in Angola, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2003. He is survived by his: Son-Roger Logan and his wife, Kitty, of Indianapolis, Indiana Daughter-Linda Logan of Fort Lauderdale, Florida Sister-Joyce Ann Hadle of Baldwin City, Kansas Granddaughter-Cacia Lynn Logan of Indianapolis, Indiana Nephews-Stevie, Gary Niece-Rachelle Alvin is preceded in death by his: Wife-Janet Logan Father-Eural Logan Mother-Vesta (Horwell) Logan SERVICES: Memorial Services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Cremation is planned.
