Alma Jean Yackle "Jean", 89, Paola, died November 6, 2014, at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Paola. Jean was born October 19, 1925 to Steve and Barbara Hoelscher in Richmond Kansas. She graduated from Ursuline Academy at the age of 16. She was married to Warren Yackle on November 10, 1945. They were married for 28 years and the union brought 6 children. Jean worked as a cook at Holy Trinity School, as a sales associate at Grabill"s, Stockwell's and Sandy's Bridal. She was very active at Holy Trinity Church and enjoyed gardening, reading and was an excellent seamstress. Jean was a mother above all else to her six children. She was preceded in death by an infant sister Mary, a daughter Dianna, her parents, brothers Charles and Robert Hoelscher and a grandson Jamie Whitaker. She is survived by her sister Lois Nunalley, daughter Carol Walker (Larry) of Paola, son Gary Yackle (Christine) of Fontana, daughter Cathy Whitaker (Jerry) of Osawatomie, daughter Karen Jackson (Terry) of Sterling, daughter Barb Green (Fred) of Paola, fourteen grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday 6:30pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home,with a rosary at 6PM, 305 North Pearl St, Paola (913) 294-2372. Funeral service will be Tuesday 10:30AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 East Chippewa St, Paola. Burial will be at 1:30PM Scipio Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions are made to the American Diabetes Association or to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
