Allia Mae Woodsum

April 5, 1915 — February 14, 2003

Allia Mae Woodsum was born April 5, 1915, at Princeton, Missouri. She was the daughter of Wallace Edward and Leo Alma (Powell) Mantlo. She moved from northern Missouri to Pomona, Kansas, as a child. After her marriage, she moved to the Centropolis, Kansas, area, where she made her home until her death Friday, February 14, 2003, at the age of eighty-seven years. She attended Silver Lake Elementary in rural Pomona and graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1935. Allia Mae was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Church, the Ladies Aid Group, and the Daughters Club of Centropolis, Kansas. Allia was an outgoing, lovely lady. She enjoyed visiting on the telephone and was very active in her clubs. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for her flowers. When friends came to visit Allia, they always left with something. She loved sharing her flowers and vegetables with others. On May 28, 1945, Allia Mae was united in marriage with Donald B. Woodsum in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded in death May 20, 1993. She is also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Pearl Almond McCulley; brother, Howard Stacey Mantlo; sister, Eva Okeomea Mantlo; half-brother, Omar E. Hammond; and, son-in-law, Gary L. Motter. Allia is survived by her son, J. D. Woodsum and his wife, Barbara, of Ottawa; daughter, Linda P. Motter of Ottawa; two grandsons, Chad L. Motter and Brian J. Woodsum; niece, Lorene Farmer of Meadville, Missouri; and, nephew, Lawrence Hammond of Meadville, Missouri. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Jim Cain IN STATE: Mrs. Woodsum will lie in state after 5p.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7-8 Wednesday evening. CEMETERY: Union Cemetery north of Centropolis, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation % of the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 235 S.
