Allen Ray Proctor

Ray Proctor, one-day shy of his 89th birthday, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Olathe Hospice House. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside services will be held immediately following at 2:30 P.M. at Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville. Ray was born December 15, 1928, in Sylvia, Kansas, the son of George Russell and Stella Mae (Linder) Proctor. He grew up in Sylvia and Hutchinson and moved to Wichita in 1951. He was transferred to Amarillo, Texas in 1956, and to Kansas City in 1966. In 1999, Ray moved to Ottawa, where he made his home until his death. Ray was united in marriage to Marcy Lee Starks June 19, 1947, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She preceded him in death May 2, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard Proctor, Ed Proctor and John Proctor; and sister, Ellen Haskins. Survivors include his two daughters, Vicki Price and husband Jim of Lubbock, Texas and Gwen Farmer and husband Mike of Overland Park; six grandchildren, Kaki Copheranham, Koie English, Kristy Armer, Travis Farmer, Reed Farmer and Cody Farmer; eight great grandchildren, Jarrett Copheranham, Chelsea Copheranham, Ashley Cornelius, Karley English, Hayden English, Dylan Armer, Cole Armer and Navah Farmer. Ray drove for Navajo Truck Line 28 years and after ABF Trucking purchased Navajo, he worked 10 additional years until retiring in May 1989. He looked forward to having coffee and conversation every day with his friends at Old 56 in Ottawa.
