Allan C. Coffman Sr.

Allan C. Coffman, Sr., 77, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the Olathe Hospice House. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 29, 2017, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie, Kansas. Allan was born July 7, 1940, in Douglas County, Kansas, the son of Allan and Ruby Velma Agnes (Gardner) Coffman. He grew up in Douglas and Leavenworth Counties and was a longtime Tonganoxie resident. Allan moved to Baldwin City and then Ottawa where he made his home for the last 20 years. He attended school in Douglas and Leavenworth Counties. Allan served in the United States Army where he was a mechanic stationed in Korea attaining the rank of Specialist 4. Allan was united in marriage to Carol Ann Oldaker. She preceded him in death May 28, 1983. Allan married Mary Tipton December 4, 1995. She preceded him in death March 9, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Ruby Coffman; brother, Joe Coffman; and sister, Mavis Garvin. Survivors include his two children, Allan Coffman, Jr. and wife Tonya of Pomona, and Christina Cooper and husband Roy of Jamesville, North Carolina; two siblings, Sue Fangohr and husband Eddie of Missouri, and Joann Gardner of Winchester; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was employed as a mechanic with the State of Kansas, Wyandotte County Service Station, retiring happily after 40 years of service. He attended Friends Church in Tonganoxie, and the Agape Church in Ottawa. After retirement, Allan spent his time tinkering and repairing small engines and appliances.
