Alexis Jo “A.J.” Woolsoncroft, 12, of Baldwin City and Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, in Trego County, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 5:30 to 8:30 P.M., Friday, June 13, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 13th & Maple, Ottawa. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. A.J. was born Friday, October 12, 2001, in Ottawa, the daughter of Charles R. Woolsoncroft and Hailey Jo (Hall) Smith. She grew up and resided in Baldwin City. A.J. also lived part-time in Ottawa since 2012. A.J. was a 6th grade student attending Baldwin Junior High School, and Baldwin Primary & Intermediate Center. She was active in sports, arts, music and loved the outdoors. Survivors include mother, Hailey Smith and husband John of Ottawa; father, Charles Woolsoncroft and fiancé Jessica Wilson of Baldwin City; siblings, Matthew and Isabell Woolsoncroft, Grace Wilson, Jacklyn Smith, Christopher and Chelsey Freeman, and Tiffany Smith; maternal grandparents, J.B. and JoEllen Hall of Ottawa; maternal grandmother, Pamela Smith; paternal grandmothers, Carol Dickson, and Susan Voke; paternal grandfathers, Maurice Woolsoncroft, and Antonio Wright; nieces, Alizae Lynn Freeman, and Jillian Marie Brock; nephews, William Kale Brock, and Sacariol “Rio” Thomas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John T. Smith; and was united in Heaven with her brother, John “Bubba” Smith. A.J. was baptized and a member actively involved in the youth group, of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Ottawa. She also attended Antioch Worship Center in Overland Park.
