Albert H Barnhart

July 20, 1920 — February 4, 2004

Albert H. Barnhart was born July 20, 1920, northwest of Centropolis, Kansas. He was the son of Noah and Teacie (Sink) Barnhart. Albert grew up on the family farm and graduated from Appanoose High School with the class of 1938. Albert moved to his present farm northwest of Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, in March of 1945, where he made his home, until his death Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at the age of eighty-three years. On October 28, 1945, Albert was united in marriage with Mary Goforth at Ottawa. They celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage and were members of the Church of the Brethren, Ottawa. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his son, James Leland Barnhart of Ottawa; three grandsons, Scott James Barnhart, Ryan Patrick Barnhart, Andrew Steven Barnhart; and sister Lynette Dale. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Violet. Albert was a lifelong farmer and dairyman. He also worked at the Franklin County Sale Barn for twenty-eight years. Albert enjoyed being outside, working on his farm and watching wildlife. He was a good steward of the land. When spring would arrive, he could hardly wait to get on the John Deere and plant corn. Several neighbors used Albert as a gauge of when it was time to plant. Albert also diligently recorded in his journals, the weather and the happenings on the farm. However, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and following his son and grandsons through their sports activities. Albert will be dearly missed.
