Albert Garcia

Albert Garcia, 78, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 4, 2019, at The Healthcare Resort in Topeka. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 11, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. The Rosary will be held at 9:30 A.M., prior to the mass at the church. Inurnment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Albert was born August 5, 1941, in LeLoup, Kansas, the son of Juan and Pabla (Arias) Garcia. He lived in Ottawa moving to Topeka in 1962. Albert served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962. He was stationed in Germany as a private in the Infantry. He was employed at Goodyear Tire in Topeka as a tire builder for nearly 35 years, retiring in 2000. Albert was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Topeka and a former member of the United Rubber Workers of America, Topeka. He enjoyed building model trains, military models and Lego models. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include three children, Sandra Perez (Joe Bernal), Juanita Garcia (Russel Brown), and Tony Garcia (Diane Meeker) all of Topeka; sister, Aurora (Marvin) Ottinger of Atchison, three grandchildren, Chris (Stefani) Spyres of Topeka, Anisa Perez also of Topeka, and Jesse (Gerie) Johnson of Lawrence; and three great grandchildren, Aeryn Spyres, Kyra Spyres and Mykah Spyres all of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Pabla Garcia; three brothers, Carlos, Fernando and Chon Garcia; six sisters, Juanita Blanco, Amelia Garcia, Natalia Martinez, Esther Flores, Lupe Rios and Henryetta Soriano.
