Albert G. James, age 83, of Lane, Kansas, died Friday, November 25, 2011, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on Monday, December 12, 1927, in Osawatomie, Kansas, the son of Gard and Florence (Farver) James. He was a lifelong Lane area resident. Albert graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1945. He was a dairy, crop, and cattle farmer for thirty years, also working various jobs in the area. From 1965 to 1980, he was a machinist first class for BEHM Company of Osawatomie and for Taylor Forge Company of Paola from 1980 to retirement in 1987. Albert served in the United States Army from February 5, 1946, to April 22, 1947. He was a founding member of the Pottawatomie Township Fire Department. He was an active supporter of the Pottawatomie Township Ruritan and a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local #84. On Sunday, June 19, 1949, Albert was united in marriage with N. Faith Betz in rural Rantoul, Kansas. They celebrated sixty-two years together. She survives of their home. SURVIVORS INCLUDE: Wife-N. Faith James of the home; Son-George James and his wife, Shelly, of Independence, Kansas; Son-John James and his wife, Lynne, of Olathe, Kansas; Daughter-Victoria Hoke and her husband, Robert, of Lyndon, Kansas; Daughter-Robin James and her spouse, Susan Roberts, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Grandchildren (7)-Anthony Hoke and his wife, Carly; Andrea Hoke; Drew James; Rachel James; Jordan Grotrian and her husband, Nathan; Shannon James; Justin James; Great-Grandchild (1)-Maxson Hoke. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gard and Florence James. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Lane First United Methodist Church in Lane, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. IN STATE: Mr. James will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29. Family will meet with friends at Lane First United Methodist Church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, prior to services. CEMETERY: Lane Cemetery in Lane, Kansas.
