Addie Rue Phillips, age 85, of Louisburg, Ks., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Ks. She was born April 21, 1922 at Zolfo Springs, Florida, the daughter of Albert Franklin and Melissa Agnes (Harrison) Gayle. She lived in Ft. Myers, Florida for 31 years before moving to Louisburg, Ks. where she has resided for the past 54 years. She was a waitress in Ft. Myers in the 1940"s and 50"s and ran Highway 69 Motel in Louisburg in the 60,s and was a cook in Louisburg before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Louisburg American Legion Auxiliary, and a life term member of the Union Pacific Employees Club. Addie always enjoyed having fun, laughing and making others laugh. She loved traveling with friends and family, especially to Las Vegas and Florida. At home she enjoyed cooking, tending her flowers, watching hummingbirds, fishing and outings to local casinos. She was the last of 9 children from a pioneering family that left southern Alabama and moved to southwest Florida in the early 1900"s. Her determination and fighting spirit will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 brothers and sisters, first husband Paul Claytor and her husband of 37 years, Edgar Phillips, Sr.. She is survived by 3 sons, Ernest and wife Mary Claytor, LaCygne, Ks; Donald and wife Eloise Claytor, Alva, Fl.; and Edgar Jr. and wife Lizbeth Phillips, Louisburg, Ks.; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
