Adalene B. Montgomery, age 92 of Garnett, Kansas, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on Saturday, May 15, 1920 in Rosemont, Kansas the daughter of Theodore and Beatrice (Horne) Sedgwick. Adalene grew up in the Franklin County area and moved from Ottawa to Garnett in 1967. Adalene attended Stony Point School in Williamsburg, Kansas and graduated from Waverly High School with the class of 1939. She worked as the chief telephone operator in Waverly; at the County Clerk's office in Burlington; Elliot's Dairy; Ben Franklin’s and Penn's Apco in Garnett. Adalene attended the Church of Christ in Garnett and while living in Ottawa, she attended the Poplar Street Church of Christ. On Saturday, March 20, 1943, Adalene was united in marriage with Merl J. Montgomery. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1987. She is survived by her: Son - Roger Montgomery of Garnett, Kansas Nephew – Ted Norton of Phoenix, Arizona She is preceded in death by her: Husband - Merl J. Montgomery Mother - Beatrice Sedgwick Father - Theodore Sedgwick Son - Loren Dale Montgomery Daughter - Connie Lynn Montgomery Sister - Opal Norton Nephew – Kenneth Norton SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Graveside Inurnment services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Agricola, Kansas.
