Aubry Roy Woods was born December 19, 1918, at Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Oscar A. and Cordelia (Smith) Woods. A lifelong resident, he made his home in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, until his death Sunday, November 17, 2002, at the age of eighty-three years. Following World War II, he was a farmer. From 1951 to 1960, he was a paint foreman at Osawatomie State Hospital, and paint contractor from 1960 to 1980. Prior to World War II, he was employed by Sunflower Ordinance Plant in DeSoto, Kansas. In the late 1930's, he was a barber. Roy served in the United States Army Medical Corp from 1945 to 1946, during World War II, as a Medical Technician on a hospital ship. Since 1974, Roy was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901, Ottawa. He was also a charter member of the Night Crawler Camping Club. Roy was an outdoorsman and avid fisherman. He also liked to go hunting and on camping trips, where he enjoyed spending a lot of hours with his family and friends. On October 23, 1937, Roy was united in marriage with Ruby E. Barnhart at Garnett, Kansas. They enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage. She survives of their home. He is also survived by three sons, Rex Woods and his wife, Rhonda, Rocky L. Woods and his companion, Terri Moody, Ricky D. Woods and his wife, Diana, all of Ottawa; daughter, Rose Marie
