Wilma Doane

Wilma G. Doane age 95 of SpringHill died Wednesday at the Cedar Lake Village in Olathe. Graveside services will be at 11:15 AM Paola Cemetery with a visitation from 10 to 11 AM at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home 305 N. Pearl Paola KS 66071. Memorials to the Doane memorial Fund in care of the Funeral Home, to leave condolences go to Penwell-Gabel.com Wilma was born July 10, 1912 in Bucyrus, Kansas to Charles W. and Connie Mae Work Roberts. She attended school in Bucyrus and graduated from Paola High School in 1932. On October 10, 1934 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart John Doane, in Paola Kansas. She and her husband farmed the family farm in the Bucyrus area for many years before retiring and moving to Paola in 1974, and then she moved to Spring Hill in 1999. Wilma enjoyed being active in the local 4-H clubs and cross stitching, gardening, canning and being outdoors. She was very proud of her age and how she could still be active. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Eldon, sister, Hazel, 4 brothers Vern, Oral, Jesse, Olin, and granddaughter Tracey. Surviving are her son Don and his wife Lynda Doane of Olathe, daughter, Phyllis and husband Don McPherson of SpringHill, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grand children, and 1 great great grandchild.
