Wayne Ronald Bruner

Wayne Ronald Bruner, age 77, of Rantoul, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012. He was born on Saturday, June 29, 1935 in Rantoul, Kansas, the son of Earl and Geneva (Lockwood) Bruner. Wayne lived all of his life in the Rantoul area. Wayne graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1952. Wayne was a self employed carpenter from the mid 1950’s to mid 1970’s building residential houses and apartments mostly in the Kansas City area. He was later employed in sales with several area companies. In 1991 he was employed by Wackenhut Security Services, Kansas City, Missouri and when he retired in 2003 he was Director of Security for Honeywell of Olathe. Wayne served in the Kansas National Guard in the late 1950’s. A member of Green Valley Baptist Church. On April 6, 1953 Wayne was united in marriage to Maxine Nester at Ottawa, Kansas. He is survived by his: Wife – Maxine Bruner of the home; Son – Steven Bruner and wife Bozenna of Basehor, Kansas; Daughter – Brenda Downey and husband Doug of Wellsville, Kansas; Daughter – Kathleen Spratt and husband Dean of Rantoul, Kansas; Grandchildren - Dori Bruner and husband Ernie; Donald Damron; Daniel Damron and wife Amanda; Shannon Ruckman and husband Shane; Levi Spratt and wife Lorena and Raven Runft. Five Great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his: Parents – Earl and Geneva Bruner and a Brother – Warren Bruner. SERVICES: Graveside Services will be held at the Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas, 10:00 AM, Friday, August 10, 2012. IN STATE: Mr. Bruner will lie in state at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 4:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 9, 2012, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
