Warren Dale McCandless Warren Dale McCandless, 70, a proud resident of Louisburg, KS, passed away on April 23, 2008 in Rochester, MN. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 11AM. A visitation will be held from, 6-8 p.m.., Monday evening April 28, 2008 both at the First Baptist Church at 406 S Vine Louisburg, Ks. Interment with military honors conducted by the United States Navy will be at the Louisburg Cemetery. Warren was born on December 28, 1937 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Wilbert Layton and Nellie Mae (Henry) McCandless, Sr. He served in the United States Navy from October 18, 1955 to December 17, 1958. Mr. McCandless owned and operated the McCandless Hide and Wool in Kansas and Nebraska, the Tri-States Air Services in Kearney, Nebraska, Salina Poultry, Mid-Con Meats in Salina, Kansas and was employed by several transport services retiring from Stevens Transport Services in Dallas, Texas in 2000. He served on the Louisburg City Council from 1995 to 1997 and served as Mayor of Louisburg from 1997 to 2003. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion Post No. 250 of Louisburg. He was a member of the Louisburg Lions Club and Big Brothers and Sisters and a former member of the Louisburg Rotary. He served on the board of the Swan River Museum in Paola, KS. He was a member of the Isis Shrine and Salina Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M of Salina, and attended the Peace Masonic Lodge of Louisburg. He also assisted with transportation to the Shriner"s Children"s" Hospital. He married Marjorie Y. Hall on December 7, 1957 in Woodburn, OR. She survives. Other survivors three children, Michael Warren McCandless and his wife, Kathy of Bennington, KS, Pamela Dean Soper and her husband, Ray of Carthage, MO, and Patrick Dale McCandless and his wife, Debra of Lawrence, KS; his twin brother, Wayne G. McCandless of Manhattan, KS; a sister, Carolee Burchett of Branson, MO; a step-brother, Wayne Lighthill of North Carolina; 7 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Lydian McCandless, and a brother, Wilbert Layton McCandless, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel, Louisburg Chapel, P.O.
