Victor Fred Reece, 26, of Pomona, KS, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at AdventHealth Ottawa. Private graveside services will be held at Appanoose Cemetery, Douglas County, KS. Victor will lie in state from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Victor was born January 7, 1994 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Toni (Prettyman) Reece and Timothy Reece. He was a lifelong Pomona resident. He graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 2012 and continued his education at Fort Scott Community College and Fort Hays State University. Victor was employed with the Garnett Livestock Auction as a stock handler. He was an active member of the Appanoose Baptist Church, serving as deacon and attending all the church activities. Vic was an avid reader, loved his family and taking day trips. He was an advocate for animal rescue supporting local animal shelters. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bayley Spillman. Survivors include his mother, Toni Reece of Pomona; maternal grandmother, Connie Prettyman of Pomona; brother, Emerson Reece also of Pomona; father, Timothy Reece; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles. The family suggests memorial contributions to Appanoose Baptist Church Bldg Fund or the Pomona Library c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
