Tony M. Markus

Tony M. Markus, 44, of Pomona, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Olathe Medical Center. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 15, 2018 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Tony was born November 6, 1973 in Paola, the son of Thomas and Barbara (Gilmore) Markus. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1992. Tony married Marrissa Miller in 1994 then later divorced. Tony married Jennifer Seaton June 3, 1999, in Ottawa. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his five children, Tyler Markus and wife Tayler of Ottawa, Cody Markus also of Ottawa, Hannah, Cooper and Jaxon Markus all of Pomona; father, Thomas Markus of Ottawa; five siblings, Brad Wheat and wife Teresa of Ottawa, Thomas Markus Jr. and wife Jamma of Paola, Billy Markus to Topeka, Andrea Rowland and husband Paul of Williamsburg, and Dustin Markus of Ottawa; granddaughter, Madalyn Markus and two grandchildren on the way; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Markus; brother, Kevin Wheat; and sister, Christina Wheat. Tony was employed at various locations throughout the years including; Clarkson’s Construction as a truck driver; Ottawa Transmission as a mechanic; Sutherland Lumber as a truck driver; Crown Chevrolet as a mechanic; Absolute Performance as a mechanic; and Midwest Cabinet as a custom cabinetmaker. Tony enjoyed camping and barbeques with his family. He helped coach baseball with his older boys and loved to watch his kids sporting events. He was a man that could fix everything around the house and would give the shirt off his back or last dollar to help anyone. Tony will be remembered as a great husband, father, son, brother, cousin and friend. The family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
