Timothy Peet “Tim” Guinotte passed away at “the Rock” in Ottawa, Kansas, on March 29, 2024, after a short illness. Tim was the youngest of ten children born to Jim and Alison (Jones) Guinotte on June 8, 1963, in Chanute, Kansas. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and graduated from Chanute High School in 1981. He graduated from Butler County Community College with a Petroleum Technology degree. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks and Sons of the American Legion.
Tim worked in the oil industry most of his life, beginning with working with his father Jim at Reed Oil Company. He drove trucks for Consolidated Oil Well Services, Enron, Our Own Hardware and Penske. He eventually owned an oil company with his oldest brother Jim. After selling his oil leases in 2018, he said he was “between jobs” when asked if he had retired.
He married Laura Sue Cox on December 9, 2008. While Tim and Laura attended Chanute High School together, it was a chance meeting in 1996, at Our Own Hardware, that brought them together again.
He was an avid hunter but more of an avid socializer. He enjoyed good food, a nice cocktail and pulling pranks on others. He had a sharp wit and could imitate the unique laugh or voice of friends and family. You always left his presence with a smile. Tim will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dick. He is survived by his devoted wife Laura, his brothers Jim of Ottawa, Joe of Wichita, Tucson (Sandy) and John of Chanute, sisters Mary (Jim) Morris and Alison (Alex) Mih of Chanute, Aimee (John) Benage of Placitas, New Mexico, and Nancy (Mike) Eichten of Topeka, sisters in law Stephanie Guinotte of Loveland, Colorado, and Debbie (Roger) Dean of Altoona, Kansas, and brother in law Bill (Corina) Cox of Chanute. He was Uncle Buck to numerous nieces and nephews and a beloved cousin to many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ottawa Eagles, 524 East 15th Street, Ottawa, Kansas on April 13, 2024, from 2:00-6:00pm.
