Shirley Maxine Coffman

Shirley Maxine Coffman, 76, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at her home,

Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Family will meet with friends 6;00 – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

Shirley was born Tuesday, December 24, 1946 in Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of George and Verla (Greenfield) Cates.

She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. Shirley attended school in the Ottawa School District through the eighth grade.

Shirley was united in marriage to Albert Al Coffman on July 8, 1962, in Ottawa, Kansas. He survives of the home.

She was a member of the Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa and the Model T Club in Burlington, Kansas.

Shirley loved to play bingo at the V.F.W. Post 852 in Lawrence, hunt for bargains at yard sales, read, make blankets, paint ceramics, bake, camping and fishing, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She especially loved her grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Verla; brother Gene Cates; and re-united with her best friend Ernestine Ledom.

Survivors include husband Albert; daughter Debra Walker (Ron) of Topeka, Kansas; sons Albert Coffman Jr. and Rusty Coffman both of Ottawa, Kansas; brother Kenneth Cates (Cherlyn) of Arizona; five grandchildren Chad Coffman (Amanda), David Coffman (Bree), Ashley Powell (Travis), Brandi Lamm (Chuck) and Meghan Nickelson (Chris); fourteen great grandchildren Annastasia, Alinia, Billy, Morgan, Ayden, Freya, Rylie, William, Aibel, Addison, Colby, Emalie, Hunter, and Kaiden; and three great great grandchildren Kahli, Javien, and Layton.
