Ruth Lavetta Miller

Ruth L. Miller, 98, of Pomona, Kansas, died on Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Baldwin Care Center in Baldwin City, Kansas. She was born on Thursday, May 12, 1910, in Linn Creek, Missouri. She was the daughter of Robert H. and Nora (Cable) Prewitt. Ruth moved from Linn Creek, Missouri to the Pomona, Kansas area in 1926. She attended Pomona High School. She was a homemaker, raised registered Hereford cattle, and cultivated a large vegetable garden and flower garden with over 100 varieties of roses. On September 15, 1927, Ruth was united in marriage with Roy A. Miller in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1982. Survivors include: Son-Melvin Miller of Pomona, Kan. Son-Harlan Miller & his wife, Thelma, of Ottawa, Kan. Daughter-Charlotte Chambers of Baldwin City, Kan. Daughter-Treva Simmons & her husband, Fletcher, of Manhattan, Kan. Miller Son-Carrol Miller Brother-Norman Prewitt Brother-Maurice Prewitt Brother-Robert Prewitt, Jr. Sister-Ruby Nowling Sister-Alice Wash Sister-Pauline Collins Sister-Cecil Weinheimer Grandson-Kenneth Miller Grandson-Ronald Chambers SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kansas, at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Miller from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to processing to the cemetery.
