Ruth Elizabeth Brocker, age 94, of Paola, Kansas passed away March 9, 2019. The daughter of Albert A. and Edith Pearl Hay Eastwood, she was born January 3, 1925 at a rural home in Fontana, Kansas. She grew up in the Fontana area and graduated from Fontana High School. After high school she was employed at the Hercules Powder plant in Desoto, Kansas, and later worked as a seamstress for the sewing factory for several years in Paola. Ruth was united in marriage December 6, 1953 to Darwin A. Brocker at the family farm in rural Paola. She became a member of the First Baptist Church in 1972 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Fontana. She enjoyed spending time outside gardening and doing farm work. In 1962 she and Darwin became the parents of a daughter, Darla. Survivors include her daughter Darla and husband Bruce, two grandsons Dustin and Eric, five great grandchildren Cameron, Kaiya, Emery, Hayden and Kennedy Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Miami County Cancer Foundation. Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Dengel and Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS. Burial will be in Fontana Cemetery.
