Ruth Ann Gruver

Ruth Ann Gruver, 70, of Centropolis, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Stormont-Vail HealthCare. Cremation is planned by Dengel & Son Mortuary with services to be held at a later date. Ruth was born on Friday, August 20, 1943 in Richland, Kansas, the daughter of Hyluard and Chrystyne (Benander) Maichel. She lived in Overbrook, Kansas, moving to Centropolis in 1962. She graduated from Overbrook Rural High School with the class of 1961. Ruth was united in marriage with Calvin Gruver January 27, 1962, in Globe, Kansas. He survives of the home. She owned and operated Baldwin Floor Covering until health issues caused her to retire. Other survivors include her two children, Michelle Brown and husband Rob of Overbrook, and Bob Gruver and wife Lori of Centropolis; four grandchildren, Melissa Jolly of Valparaiso, Nebraska, Monica Jolly of Scranton, Michael Brown of Overbrook, and Dusty Gruver of Lecompton; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Nelson Young, Sondra Simmons, Wayne Maichel, Bonnie Keim, and Carl Maichel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Harold Young. Ruth will be remembered as a kind and caring person who loved, supported and cared for her family throughout her life. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed Bingo. She will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever.
