Ruby Eileen Mckay

Ruby E. McKay, 83, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Merriam, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will greet friends at 1:00pm prior to services.

Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas

Ruby was born Saturday, February 3, 1940, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Amy (Hoskinson) McCurdy.

She was a life-long resident of Ottawa.

Ruby was united in marriage on February 2, 1962, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Donald D. McKay. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and was employed at Walmart as a stocker for many years.

Ruby was a former member of the Town & Country Church of Christ and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 Ottawa.

She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and camping. Ruby especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Donald; parents Robert and Amy; brother Loren McCurdy; sister Roberta Micheals; brother Robert McCurdy; brother Gary Wilson, and brother Ralph Wilson, Jr.

Survivors include son Jim McKay of Fairbury, Illinois; son John McKay of Ottawa; sisters Phyllis Gearheart of Turpin, Oklahoma, Mary Lou Baker of Vassar, Kansas, and Judy Collins of Ottawa, Kansas; brothers Eldon McCurdy (Sandy) of Ottawa, Kansas and Mike Wilson (Tamera) of Garnett, Kansas; granddaughter Deonna Kestner (Randy); and great granddaughter Mavis Kestner.
