Rodney “Rod” S. McFadden, 56, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021, at AdventHealth Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Inurnment will be held later at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Rod was born June 8, 1964, in Ottawa, the son of Harlan and Beverly Sue (Bolen) McFadden. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1982. Rod was united in marriage to Leann Walker January 2, 1986, in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives of the home. Rod began working with Ottawa Truck, now known as Kalmar, in 1984 and was currently working in the rework department. He was a former member of Ottawa Trinity United Methodist Church. Rod was a member of the Garnett Saddle Club and a drummer and vocalist with several bands including Stone Creek, Rhythm Wranglers, Bubba Hyde, and Road Rash. He enjoyed working on his 1947 Chevy pickup “Christine”, but his pride and joy was spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Other survivors include three children, Christopher McFadden (Katie) of Ottawa, Melanie Howard (Jason) of Vassar and Dallas McFadden (Chelsea) also of Vassar; brother Rick McFadden of Ottawa; seven grandchildren, Ralleigh McFadden, Harlan McFadden, Rykher McFadden, Racelynn McFadden, Alexia Howard, Kyle McFadden, and Hazel McFadden; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions to DaVita Ottawa Dialysis c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
