Robert R. “Bob” Calahan, 72, of Ottawa, died December 29, 2023 at Rock Creek of Ottawa.
Memorial services will be held at 2PM on Friday January 5th at Dengel & Son Mortuary. The family will meet with friends following the service. A private burial will be scheduled at Highland Cemetery.
Bob was born Monday, November 12, 1951 at Colony, Kansas, the son of Ivan Rex and Tena (Runnels) Calahan.
He grew up in Kincaid, Kansas and moved to Ottawa in 1975. He graduated from Moran High School with the class of 1969.
Bob was united in marriage with Debra Ann “Debbie” Wehrle July 7, 1979 at Ottawa, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 6, 2020.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Tena Calahan, and brother, Larry Calahan.
Bob worked thirty-five and a half years as a driver for UPS, retiring January 7, 2011. He liked shooting guns and competed in pistol competitions.
Survivors include his sister, Nancy Henderson and her husband, Hank Smotherman of Olathe, Kansas; brothers, Darrel Calahan and his wife, Diane of Colony, Kansas and Douglas Calahan, also of Colony, and brother-in-law, Edward Wehrle and his wife, Teresa of Pomona, Kansas.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
