Robert T. Bob Frizzell, 82, of Rantoul, Kansas died on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on Tuesday, March 2, 1926, in Bradford, Arkansas. He was the son of C. M. and Anna (Mason) Frizzell. He grew up in Conway, Arkansas. Following his military service, he lived in Olathe, Kansas, prior to moving to Rantoul, Kansas, where he made his home the past thirty-three years. Bob earned his Associate of Arts Degree at Johnson County Community College. He was employed as Chief Security Officer for Johnson County Community College for thirty years, where he was named to the Wall of Honor and received the Bob Frizzell Award, an award named after Bob for employee going above and beyond. He served in the United States Marine Corps from February of 1943 to February of 1963, attaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, receiving several awards, commendations, ribbons and badges including Asiatic-Pacific, World War II Victory, U. N. Service, Korean Service, and Good Conduct. He was a member of Rantoul Presbyterian Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 of Ottawa; Masonic Lodge of Lane, Kansas; American Legion of Ottawa, where he served as Commander for two years in the 1990's; and Franklin County Marine Corps Association, where he was named 1996 Marine of the Year. On August 29, 1948, Bob was united in marriage with Madine Langford in Conway, Arkansas. She survives of their home. Survivors include: Wife-Madine (Langford) Frizzell of their home Daughter-Angel Obersteadt & her husband, Eric, of Shawnee, Kan. Son-Thomas M. Frizzell of Rantoul, Kan. Sister-Virginia Behler of Mich. Grandchild-Eli Neufeld Grandchild-Chelsea Neufeld Grandchild-Mallory Neufeld Grandchild-Nate Neufeld Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins- He was preceded in death by: Father-C. M. Frizzell Mother-Anna (Mason) Frizzell Brother-Richard Allen Frizzell Brother-Mason Frizzell and a Infant Brother SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Frizzell at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 2:30 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 3:00 to 5:00 Sunday afternoon. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
