Raymond Dean Carpenter, age 80 of Richmond, Kansas went to be with his Lord, December 10, 2015. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, December 14, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Berea Cemetery, east of Richmond. He was born August 20, 1935, to Robert and Minnie (Guss) Carpenter. He was a member of the Centropolis Baptist Church, Centropolis, Kansas. He always wanted God to have first place in his life and encouraged his children and their families to do the same. March 19, 1955, he married Phyllis Fast and they enjoyed 60 precious years together. He and Phyllis raised three daughters, Kathy Ashburn, Jackie Beddo and Kelley Hennessey and husband Bob. In his younger years, he and his wife enjoyed bowling, farming, and raising registered Limousin cattle and registered Quarter horses. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially coon hunting and mowing lawns. He loved pitching horseshoes. Dean and Phyllis attended many world tournaments enjoying sweet times on their trips. He worked at Delco Battery, Olathe, Kansas, retiring after 30 years. He later worked at Beachner Grain, Richmond, Kansas, for several years, which he enjoyed very much. Dean is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three daughters, Kathy Ashburn, Jackie Beddo and Kelley Hennessey and husband Bob; six grandchildren, Christina Wilkins, Trinity Carpenter, Donal Lee Beddo, Leslie Beddo, Justin Hennessey and Jared Hennessey; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Carpenter; sister-in-law, Alta Carpenter; three stepsisters, Edris Hogue, Yvonne Sartain and Brenda Sartain; seven stepbrothers, Robert Sartain, Leon Sartain, James Sartain, Lloyd Sartain, David Sartain, Teddy Sartain and Timothy Sartain; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Minnie Carpenter; in-laws, Paul and Janie Fast; stepmother, Vi Carpenter; sister and brother-in-law, Melba and John Claypool; sister, Fayona Carpenter; brother, Don Carpenter; sons-in law, Donnie Beddo and Ted Ashburn; niece, Shirley Jo Claypool; nephews, Jerry Claypool, Kirk and Monty Carpenter; and four stepbrothers, William Sartain, Charles Sartain, Dewey Sartain and Stephen Sartain.
