Ralph E. Green, 91, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Ralph was born Friday, October 16, 1925, in rural Ottawa, Kansas, the son of William and Maud (O`Neal) Green. He was a near lifelong Franklin County resident. Ralph was united in marriage to Ruby Moss February 8, 1963, in Ottawa. She preceded him in death October 23, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Hackett; and brother, Maurice “Bud” Green. Survivors include his three nieces, Juanita Diehl and husband Charlie Raasch of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Reba Mackler and husband David of rural Ottawa, and Becky Frieden and husband Mark of rural Pomona; and three nephews, Leland Green and wife Janet of Wellsville, Virgil Green and wife Geri also of Wellsville, and Gayle Green and wife Amy of rural Ottawa. Ralph was a farmer and raised livestock his entire life. He previously worked as an assistant for Stoffer Electrical and was an electrical and plumbing assistant at Franklin County Sale Barn. He worked with Norman Watts at Watts Used Cars on the north side of Ottawa for 8 years, and was presently working with Watts Lawn Service. Ralph was known by many, many people. He never knew a stranger and would help anyone he could. He had a love for animals and always had many cats and dogs on his property. Ralph was known for being “honest as the day is long!” The family suggests memorial contributions to Helping Hands Humane Society c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
